This … time here in Africa …there are a number of different cross-currents of modernity that are coming together to make things even more challenging.
Some people believe that people ought to be able to only do what they say they ought to do, or to believe what they say they ought to believe, or live by their interpretation of something that was written down a thousand plus, two thousand years ago.
That’s not the way I think most people want to live.

On another note while we are here in Addis Ababa, according to the latest cost of living survey from Mercer, it is the cheapest African city for ex-pats to reside in.
Luanda of Angola is the world’s most expensive city for expatriates with Moscow Russia, Tokyo Japan and N’Djamena Chad close behind. I would love to know who is moving from anywhere to Chad or Angola. I surely cannot see it.
Also on the high cost living list is Bern Switzerland and Sydney Australia, ranked eight and nine. New Zealand is the cheap bet down under but that is always subject to change. The Kiwi’s economics and politics change faster than their national bird can walk.
New York City, the most expensive city in the USA to live in, is Mercer’s USA base town.
