Ichana-Kalan and Noah’s son Shem


Ichan-Kala is a fortress  that encloses  the royal court at Khiva and was was built in the 12th Century AD and but the town itself, Kiva,  was supposedly founded originally by Shem, son of Noah and became a major stop on The Silk Road for the slave trade..   It is now in Uzbekistan part o the Central Asian republics.

Today it is  Uzbekistan and appropriately  houses the Kunya Ark (“Old Citadel”)  which contains the oldest structure in Khiva, as well as 19th-century edifices.
