Mrs Truett Cathy has reposed, age 92

The founding family of Chick-Fil-A, the nation’s favorite fast food place, got some sad news last week. The wife of founder Truett Cathy passed away at the ripe old age of 92 and the family asks for prayers to help them through the loss.

Jeanette Cathy passed away on July 22 surrounded by her family, the Associated Press reported last week.

Company Officials said in a release that Mrs Cathy was surrounded by family when she died Wednesday night at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital., Atlanta Georgia. Also mentioned was that Mrs Jeannette Cathy attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and married Samuel Truett in 1948. She was born December 23, 1922 & the two met when she was 8 years old in Georgia.

Their eldest son, Dan Truett Cathy, serves as president and CEO of Chick-fil-A, Inc. According to the company’s website, Chick-fil-A has more than 1,900 restaurants in 42 states and Washington, D.C., and produced sales of nearly $6 billion in 2014. Cathy says his mother was the family’s “spiritual nucleus and encourager.”  Her husband reposed September 14 of last year, at their home, and he always spoke highly of his wife and her strong Christian faith. They were married 65 years.

 Besides Dan they also have a son Donald “Bubba” and a daughter Trudy Cathy White,   as well 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.  Both Cathys were interned in Greenwood Cemetery, Atlanta Georgia.
