Christmas…the aftermath

While watching Bill Murray’s Scrooge & decorating the tree,  my wondering eyes befell, a small squat box that I much neither remember buying nor placing there at all. What could this small square box be? Nothing I asked for, I had gotten three packages back, a mistake perhaps or package I had … no I don’t need that flak. Scared to rattle it is sturdy box form, I took to the box cutters and ripped it by storm.

Down with its packaging, too much, not enough or just right? Off with the zippers of tape probably applied just last night. Out with the polystyrene holding it upright and strong, and into my PC where that green WD Green 2 TB Desktop Hard Drive: 3.5 Inch, SATA III, 64 MB Cache – WD20EZRX most certainly belonged. (lifted from that most plagiarized poem of all..Twas the Night before Christmas)

Happy and complete, we decorated our tree now in songs and happiness and with Christmas ending the mourning process, we got into the spirit of the season and looked forward to the big payoff today, the Visitation of the Three Kings.

But nothing is ever that easy, for on the Slaughter of the Innocents, (December 29th in the Eastern Orthodox Calendar; December 28th in the High Protestant and Roman Catholic calendars) appropriately enough my tooth broke! I felt nothing at first, just scarred skin. Then there was a head cold and then on New Year’s Eve a full bronchial attack; when I woke up 2 days later, pneumonia.
