As the Father hath loved Me, so have I loved you.

John 15:9

The full verse goes….
9 for even as the father has loved me, i also have loved you. remain in my love 10 and if you keep my commandments, given to me by my father, you then will remain in my love; even as i have kept them so as to remain in his love. 11 I have said these things to you, so that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
12 This is my commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you.

Having love does not nullify, invalidate, void God‘s law. John, an apostle and close friend of Jesus Christ, emphasizes love in his testament but that does not mean that John is ignoring the Ten Commandments, or what “His Father’s commands” or even the belief that Jesus is the One True Savior for Mankind which is His commandment.

What John is telling you is that LOVE is the Holy Spirit, the Glue that binds the 10 Big Laws into your life with purpose. That “Love Makes the World Go Round” as Jackie DeShannon sang in her pop song in 1960’s.

By keeping the commandments, the love of God becomes perfected in us, i.e. we see what God wants us to do. So we do what God wants because we Love him and thus this Love, that is between Him and us becomes the superglue that unites us into a holy spiritual family.

So you have to ask, What is that divine method, logic, purpose? That the commandments be a gift of His love? Well think about it, if they are not a gift what are they? They are simple rules for how to live a good Godly life. So we follow them because God has told us, in his Love for us, he took some time to figure out what were the Top Ten methods, procedure, ways to be Happy in this world when he is not physically near us like he is with Abraham on the Mount or Jesus with the Apostles.

These are the rules that show us how to be happy. Why would he do that? Because he loves us. Like the Father loves the Son without any measure, quantity, or limit that same immeasurableness the Son bestows upon His chosen ones, namely us. The whole heart of Christ is dedicated to His people. He “loved us and gave Himself for us” and we love Him and so we give to him back.

It’s such a wonderful thing.
