Mark 9: 22 And oft times he casteth him into the fire, and into the water to destroy him;but if thou canst do anything, help us, and have compassion upon us.23 And Jesus said unto him,If thou canst believe, then all things are possible to him that do so.
24 And straightway the father of the child crying with tears, said, Lord, I believe; but help my unbelief.
And Jesus good and kind answered, 29 “Only prayer and fasting can drive this kind out,” answered Jesus; “nothing else can.”
The fasting of course is often ignored in modern Bibles because most people don’t like to hear that they have to give something up to believe more; that they believe and that is enough. But if you have lots of doubt, then obviously, that’s not working for you right?
So the whole idea of fasting is important. There are 3 types of fasting in the Bible each one building upon the other, but the whole idea is to remove yourself from external things, turn off the radio, the mobile, the television, Facebook and all of the Internet and eat plainly.
How does one eat plainly? Have a piece of fruit and drink lots of water, no coffee, cappuccino, no frapuccino and no tea. Just water. If you can do it one day, try another and then slowly build up to one day a week, like Friday, the traditional day of fasting, but remember its not just food, it’s the whole thing, because you need to fill yourself with quiet so the Lord and you can commune.
Slowly you will find that your belief is stronger, it is not an immediate thing, nothing in life ever is, and then it will be easier. But start tomorrow, because well tomorrow is Friday, and don’t put off too long your desire for true communion otherwise as Napoleon Hill says, it was will be lost…and in the case, so will you.
